Dictionary meaning of Hiatus: An interruption, break, or a pause.
Honestly speaking why does this defination have to be so dramatic thooooo!
PLEASE. DO. NOT. TRY. THIS. IN. A. NIGERIAN. HOME. MOST. ESPECIALLY. A. YORUBA. ONE. πππ
If this was YouTube πππ i would have been like “hey guys welcome back to my channel, if you are new here kindly click the suscribe button and for my oldies, thanks for stopping by” but seriously guys suscribe tho! πππ God knows you have the button poping up on your screen!!!
Soooooo. Today, i would be sharing an experience on what it felt like to take a 7 day break from social media βΊβΊβΊ
dhun dhun dhun.
Dramatic pause
yeap a whole week. Of a truth, it wasn’t that bad *giggles* after the first day which was hell by the way I. SAW. TERRIBLE. THINGS.
Nothing prepared me for this journey, it was a decision taken after my friend Mary (yazzzz) told me she was taking a week break off social media. I was like emmmm, hmmmm, okay lets do this for the tribe.
*inserts evil Nollywood laughter*

Had i known. E Be Actually Tings.
Day 1
Honestly speaking, who knew it would be that hard to not check twitter or instagram or worseeeee snapchattttt (common everybody lovesssss snapchat tsk, tsk) IT. WAS HARD. I kept finding my hard itching to suscribe to a data plan on my phone and just spend hours scrolling through twitter but noooooo I. WAS. VICTORIOUS. I won.
DAY 2
I found myself falling in love with my reading list again and i was able to read like 3 book’s in a week as opposed to 2 books in a month π€π€π€. Day 2 was good. I enjoyed it.
DAY 3
By day 3 i was glowing. A butterfly unaware of any social happening around her. I mean i literally had to depend on my friend’s for information even about school (yes it was during active school session). But for once i wasn’t concerned about which trend made sense and which didn’t. IT. WAS. SILENT. And i loved it.
DAY 4
Oooouuuu. πππ i felt like Plato (more like Aristotle) i definitely felt above and beyond and truth be told, i felt wiser. Maybe those conspiracy theorist were right about rays from our gadgets making us dum π«π«π« hmmm who knows and i did sleep better π©π©π©.
DAY 5
Victory was close, along with temptation. I was itching to know if anyone noticed i was gone. I almost ruined the experiment but good old GLO (network provider) came to the rescue with no network service πππ. You seeeeeee the fate’s were with me.
DAY 6
I couldn’t sit still, i had just completed my third book (read of course) and i anticipated day 7 with dignity and poise πππ.
DAY 7
Day 7 guys πππ i was literally reluctant to suscribe to a data plan on my phone and be welcomed into the warm arms of my social media followership, but no, the show must go on. I turned on my data expecting messages to flood in and people wondering where i went but πππ lo and behold only my best friend noticed i was gone.
This taught me a valuable lesson. Never over estimate your importance in people’s life’s.
So that was how my Hiatus week went. Have you ever tried anything like this? Will you be willing to try or you will be a chicken?
Guysssss, please don’t forget next week is our Q and A session. The questions will be collected at this anonymous link center all through the month (drop your messages guys ainβt nobody gonna know it was you).
Oh well, One time in my life, I needed to breathe. I was off social media for over six months.
It wasnβt easy at first, but it was bliss. After the first month though, I was on WhatsApp with a different sim and very limited contacts . Again, It was bliss.
PS: there wasnβt any WhatsApp story at the time either. Just plain text.
